IVF has gradually become a more common option for couples with fertility problems to have their own baby. With the development of this technology, most people think that its success rate can reach 100%. However, that is not always the case.

Generally speaking, success rates for IVF depend on multiple factors. Such as the reason for infertility and their age. According to a report in 2009, pregnancy can be achieved in an average of 29.4% of IVF cycles and the percentage of cycles that result in a live birth is 22.4%. Now, with the continued development of this technology, success rates have increased dramatically.

Among all the factors, a woman’s age is the most important in the success rate of IVF. According to the statistics, a woman under 35 who undergoes IVF has a 39.6% chance of having a baby, but this number decreases to 11.5% when she is over 40. However, with the development of newer technologies, the success rate is increasing in every age group.

Women can use the following tips to increase their chances of a successful IVF.

1. Maintain a Healthy BMI

The health of a woman’s body greatly affects the chances of a successful embryo transfer and pregnancy. When you prepare for IVF, maintaining a healthy diet, quitting smoking and other unhealthy habits, keeping up with moderate exercise, staying away from all unhealthy substances, and getting enough sleep may be dull, but these things make all the difference in achieving a successful birth.

2. Cut Back on Coffee

According to recent research, drinking more than five cups of regular coffee per day may decrease the chances of getting pregnant. Drink less coffee and other caffeinated drinks.

3. Consider Having Acupuncture

In general, acupuncture can be used to relieve stress. But recent research described in medical journals indicates that there are benefits if acupuncture is used when the embryo is transferred into a woman’s uterus. Couples with fertility problems may benefit from acupuncture, too.

4. Take Vitamin D Supplements

Many scientists think that a lack of vitamin D contributes to low birth rates around the world since this vitamin plays a part in the regulation of cell proliferation and metabolic processes. To get vitamin D, women should get enough sunlight and try foods containing vitamin D, such as liver oil, egg yolks, and so on.

5. Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening

There are many high-tech ways that help to improve the embryo screening process. Chromosomal screening is one of them. Instead of directly watching an embryo, chromosomal screening can determine its true quality, which effectively reduces the possibilities of a failed cycle and miscarriage.
